Fashion Tours London didn’t expect to fall for a shop that sells guns, but Holland & Holland on Mayfair’s Bruton Street has taken sure aim on our fancy.  Its womenswear possesses a country chic that would feel comfortable just about anywhere, and the quality is, quite simply, outstanding.  Holland & Holland’s range of women’s clothes, shoes and scarves can perhaps be best understood as trendy classics, pieces that seem made to capture the unique now and then stay in your wardrobe forever.

The business was founded in 1835 and taken over by Chanel in the late 1980s, but it is its 2016 acquisition of stylist Isabella Cawdor and supermodel Stella Tennant that has produced the new riches in womenswear.  Great friends for many years, Cawdor and Tennant design every collection together, often travelling to out-of-the-way places in countries like Mongolia or Argentina to find inspiration.  In a recent interview, Tennant observes, that, despite the brand’s incorporation of international flair, “[T]here’s always a place for a good tweed and the best Scottish cashmere. True British style is immune to fashion trends, and for that many of us put comfort and quality above trend.”
